Skill Test
Some posts need a Data Entry Speed Test (DEST) or a Computer Proficiency Test (CPT). These are qualifying tests and carry no negative marking.
Tier 2 Paper I is the paper every candidate must attempt. Your Paper I marks (along with Paper II or III if your post needs it) decide your rank. Practice Maths and English especially, as they carry the most marks.

What does "new format" mean?
Our tests follow the current SSC CGL pattern: number of questions, marks, negative marking and question level.
What is the SSC CGL Tier 1 exam pattern?
Tier 1 has 100 questions of 2 marks each (200 marks) to be solved in 60 minutes. The sections are Reasoning, General Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude and English. Each wrong answer costs 0.50 marks.
Is there negative marking in SSC CGL?
Yes. Tier 1 has 0.50 negative marking for each wrong answer. Tier 2 also has negative marking in some sections, so avoid blind guessing.
Can I solve these tests on my phone?
Yes, you can read the PDFs on your phone. For best practice, print the PDF and use pen and paper for rough work, like in the real exam.
How many mock tests should I attempt before the exam?
Try at least 20 to 30 full-length tests and review each one carefully. Good review matters more than the number of tests.
Who can apply for SSC CGL?
Graduates from a recognised university can apply. Age limit and other rules depend on the post, so read the official SSC notification on ssc.gov.in.
