About the UP TGT Exam
UP TGT stands for Uttar Pradesh Trained Graduate Teacher. TGTs teach their subject in secondary schools, mainly classes 9 and 10 in government-aided schools. Some sources mention classes 6 to 10, so check the notice for the exact class range.
The exam is held by the Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission (UPESSC), based in Prayagraj. Who Can Apply for UP TGT?
Qualification
A bachelor’s degree in the relevant subject, plus a B.Ed or an equivalent teaching degree (such as LT).
Age Limit
The minimum age is 21 years on 1 July of the recruitment year. Earlier reports said there was no upper limit, but one source mentions 60. Check the new notice.
Other Conditions
UP TET or CTET was reported as not required for TGT. Reserved categories get relaxation as per UP rules.

- The exact negative marking was reported as one-third by one source. Others only say “applicable”. Confirm in the official notice.

How to read it: These cut-offs are from the old 500-mark pattern. The new paper is out of 360 and has negative marking, so use them only to understand competition, not to set an exact target.
